Duel Original · PvP · no pot rake

Rock Paper Scissors

The only Duel Original where you face another player, not the house. Pick rock, paper, or scissors. Duel does not rake the pot, so the expected value is break-even between matched players before any fees shown at confirm.

Why Rock Paper Scissors

Player vs player, no pot rake

Every other Original is you vs the house math. Rock Paper Scissors is you vs another player. Duel does not rake the match pot, so the contest is between the two of you. For low-variance house games with published edge, see Blackjack or Castle Roulette. RPS is here when you want head-to-head action.

This is not a house-edge grinder. Match stakes count toward VIP, but EV is between players. For published RTP work, use Blackjack or Castle Roulette.

Optimal play is random mixed strategy: rock, paper, scissors each one-third of the time. Pattern hunting is psychology, not math.
How to play

How PvP RPS works

Join a match or create one at your stake level. Both players commit choices through the provably fair engine. Reveal happens simultaneously. Winner takes the pot minus any published network or commission line item shown before you confirm (the match pot itself is not raked by Duel). Ties typically roll to rematch or split per rules screen.

Match stakes are locked before reveal. Both choices commit through the provably fair engine. Winner takes the pot per lobby rules. Ties follow the on-screen rematch or split policy.

Read the confirm screen for tie policy and any fees outside the pot. The pot itself is not raked by Duel.

Sessions

How to run a Rock Paper Scissors session

Set a match count and stake cap. Random mixed strategy is the only math-clean approach.

  • Fix match stake as a small fraction of bankroll.
  • Stop after N matches win or lose. Do not chase a human opponent.
  • Do not pattern hunt. It is psychology, not edge.
  • For break-even PvP with less reading, see Beef vs dealer instead.

There is no edge to grind

Optimal play is random mixed strategy: each choice one-third of the time. Pattern hunting against humans is psychology, not math. Play for fun or for volume toward VIP, not because you can "beat" the house on this title.

Play for fun or VIP volume, not because you can grind house edge. There is none on the pot.
Provably fair

Verify a Rock Paper Scissors round

Both players' outcomes derive from the committed server seed, client seeds, and nonce. After the round, recompute with the published mapping. If either side's reveal does not match the hash, the round is void.

  1. Before the round, copy the server seed hash from the provably fair panel. That hash is the commitment. The raw seed is hidden until the round ends.
  2. Set or accept a client seed. The nonce increments on every bet. Together they feed the HMAC-SHA256 function Duel publishes in the rules.
  3. Play the round. When it settles, reveal the server seed and recompute the digest with your client seed and nonce.
  4. Map the digest to the game outcome using the rules for that title. If your result does not match what Duel paid, open a ticket with the round ID.

Duel RPS reference: PvP rules, fairness, match flow

How Duel's player-vs-player Rock Paper Scissors works: match flow, tie policy, verification, and how it differs from house-edge Originals.

What it is

Rock Paper Scissors in the Originals lobby is a 1v1 contest. Unlike Beef or Dice, you are not betting against a fixed house margin on the match itself.

House edge and RTP

Duel does not rake the pot. Expected value is even between matched players before platform fees shown at confirm. This is not a grind title like 99.5% Blackjack.

Bankroll and sessions

Low variance per round but human opponents add unpredictability. Set a match-stake cap and stop after N matches, same as any even-money contest.

Vs other Originals

Versus Beef, RPS removes the dealer and the 0.8% edge. Versus Blackjack, RPS has no strategy chart that moves RTP.

VIP and promos

Match stakes count toward VIP tier progress at 0.5×. No slot rakeback on Originals.

Practical notes

Head-to-head fans sometimes also like this title for low stakes and Groomer's Van for slot variance.

Verification checklist

Both players' reveals must match HMAC output from committed seeds. Save round ID if anything looks off.
